no words…
Posted on February 23, 2010
I have been laying awake last night trying to find the right words to blog…and again this morning - but they’re not coming to me. My dad is sick. So sick. He went into the hospital with depression here in Williams Lake at the end of November. I thought it would take a couple of weeks, and things would all be good again. Didn’t happen. He was getting worse, and worse. We do not have the facilites in Williams Lake to deal with his level of illness, so he was transferred to Kamloops last month. At first, his psychiatrist (the nicest lady ever…) was confident she could help him. In the last few weeks though, he’s been getting much worse. Last week, he ended up with a severe infection, and had to be transferred into the surgical ward. My brother flew in, and my mom and I drove down to spend the weekend with him. He is so agitated and scared…of things that are not real. It’s horrible, and almost unbearable to see. He had a couple of hours of clarity on Saturday night, which was wonderful - we quickly rushed and got Griff and brought him in to have a visit - it’s a moment I will forever treasure…

The rest of the weekend, was much, much harder. I don’t have the words…
I’m having a very hard time grasping everything that has happened. My dad has all his life, been the most honest, proud. moral man. Ever. This is not him, and not who he would want to be. I don’t know anymore what to pray for…I want him back, for myself, my boys…he has SO much to give. But I don’t want him to be in pain…fighting this mental illness that right now is so much stronger than him…

So…if you call me, and I don’t return your call, or your message on Facebook…please know that it’s not because I don’t appreciate your kindness…I do, more than you can imagine. For now though, I have to put all of my energy into my family…helping myself and my boys. My brother is amazing - AMAZING. He is my best friend, and I could not imagine going through this without him - he will never know how much I love him. Last night, Brian got me red wine & mini eggs…he knows what I need! So thank you all SO much for your prayers and kindness…and please keep them coming. I NEED my dad…I’m not ready to let him go…I love him so much.

A FABULOUS Wedding!
Posted on February 20, 2010
I had SO much fun shooting Pam & Ian’s wedding at The Hills Resort. They had planned for an outdoor ceremony in the snow, but upon their arrival on Wednesday, they found NO snow! So, plans changed, the wedding was set up indoors…only to wake up to A LOT of snow on their wedding day! Pam was so happy…it was so great to hear a bride all day long being so excited to see snow! The weather made shooting a little more challenging than usual, but we came away with some awesome shots…it was a truly perfect day!

swim!
Posted on February 10, 2010
I am getting so far behind in my blogging…so, there are going to be lots of pics in the next few weeks! The boys had a swim meet a couple of weekends ago…they all did SO well! It was Griff’s first meet, and we were so proud of him! They always drain the water out of the wading pool for swim meets - and seriously, the light in there is killer! So, here’s my boys, and a collage from the weekend…

Olympics!
Posted on February 1, 2010
Last week, I had a fabulous time photographing the Olympic Torch Lighting Ceremony. It was an awesome experience, and so amazing to see how well it was all run, and how many people came out celebrate…

The next morning was even more exciting, as I got to accompany my fellow photographer and friend Robyn Mumford, and together we rode in the official VANOC media van, and photographed the Torch Relay…it was SO fun! I love the emotion in the shots…what an honor it must be for the people who are carrying the torch. The morning was beautiful, and lighting conditions were perfect! I am more excited than ever to be part of the Olympics, and am counting the days until I head to Whistler to work with the Media at the Paralympics in March!!!
