I took this picture last May…and it was such a special series of photos to me, that I couldn’t really come up with the words to blog the pictures.  They stirred emotions in me that I just didn’t have words to go with.  Last month, I saw that my favorite online magazine was requesting photo submissions…the theme was “my most meaningful image”.  I knew, this was where I had to send my photo.  I’m very proud to have had my photo chosen for this theme in Pictory…mine is #15…

Is there any other way to describe jumping into a hole cut into a foot of ice?  Parker has been trying to get me to allow him to do the Polar Bear Swim for years.  I finally let him this year.  He did it…and I think we’re probably safe for a few years now - he’s not overly anxious to do it again anytime soon!  It was fun though…and not quite as cold outside as it has been the last couple of years!

I tried hard to get Parks to look at me and give me a quick smile for the camera - but for some reason, he was very intent on getting up to the warming huts as quickly as possible!

If you know me well…you know that 2009 has not been the best year for my family.  It has in fact, been extremely difficult, and often times just really sad.  I am so fortunate to have the amazing friends that I do.  Had it not been for them, this year would have been even harder.

This photo captures the love of some of those great friends, and the happiness that we share together!  I love you all so much, and look forward to sharing your friendship in 2010!
