a once in a lifetime…

I was down at Scout Island last night, with one of my all time favorite clients, little miss Sienna…having a wonderful time. Just as we were finishing our shoot, we saw two deer…right near the preschool. We watched for a bit, and then walked to our vehicles. I had already put my camera away…and this little cat came running out - we had met him on the trail earlier…I believe he had been abandoned down there, and was quite wild. He was just sitting there watching us, and suddenly the deer got curious. Anyways, to make a long story short…the smaller of the two deer and the cat ended up getting to know each other quite well…and after about 15 minutes, both the deer were actually nuzzling & licking the cat…who was rubbing up against them! It was SO amazing…and how lucky am I that I just happened to have my camera with me???

Breanna & Kensley

Breanna’s fabulous Grandma decided that for her 13th birthday, a photoshoot would be a nice idea…gotta love grandmas! After getting rained out a couple of times, we finally got some beautiful light…
Her baby sister Kensley came along for a few shots as well - how fun, to be 13 and have a baby sister! After Kensley left, Breanna & I had some time to ourselves - it was a great night for photos…and I can’t wait to share all your beautiful shots with you!

a very emotional week…

This has been a very difficult week for me - if you’ve been waiting for photos to be blogged, I’m sorry…
My very good friend Rena lost her husband this week in a diving accident. He went for a quick dive while on a much anticipated fishing trip last Sunday night - was going to get some crab for dinner, and sadly, has not been seen since. The Coast Guard called of the search on Thursday. Erik was an amazing husband and father, and he will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
On Tuesday evening…shortly after I heard the news about Erik, I headed up to the hospital to photograph little miss M’s birth. Talk about a range of emotions…witnessing the miracle of birth is so awe inspiring - but thinking of my friend and what she was going through was also just so heavy on my mind…it was a very emotional evening.
I think I’ve realized more than anything this week, is the amazing power of a mother’s love. Seeing Melanie work so hard to bring her beautiful babe into the world, seeing my dear friend be so strong for her children during the most difficult moments of her life…and seeing Erik’s mom, being able to remember him with love and laughter and tears…a mother’s love is always strong…

Right now…go tell your family how much you love them, and give them a hug…

wow. Not really sure what else to say - I am SO thrilled to be featured on Blogs of Photogs…I’m always in awe of the talent showcased on their blog…so imagine my great surprise when I woke up to an email this morning from Mary informing me that I’m the featured photographer! ch ch ch changes!

First day of school photos this year include a girl! Ha…so funny, and different this morning. We had to schedule our shower times last night, just to fit everyone in. Poor Ilaria is beside herself with nerves about going to school here…and of course P’s first day of highschool…sure hope they both have a great day. I have to say that I can’t believe how much I’m enjoying my new family of 4…and how quickly and easily Ilaria has fit into our lives. I am so thankful that we’ve turned out to be such a great match…

What…how did that happen? Parker turned 13 today! (I’m posting late at night…so technically it was yesterday!). I swear, it was just yesterday that he was about 3! I’m so proud of him, he’s such an amazing kid…I just want to grasp on to the next five years…it will go so fast that it scares me…Happy birthday Parks…I so enjoy being your mom!
